The South Florida Cat Wellness Checklist

Indoor or outdoor, your cat's preventive plan looks different in Miami. Here's what we screen for at every visit.

The South Florida Cat Wellness Checklist

Cats are masters at hiding illness. By the time they show clinical signs, a disease process is often advanced. That’s why annual wellness exams — twice a year for seniors — are non-negotiable for keeping your cat healthy in Miami.

At every feline wellness visit we screen weight and body condition, dental health, coat and skin, hydration, joint mobility, and behavioral changes. Indoor cats living in Kendall still need parasite prevention because fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes find their way inside year-round in South Florida.

We also recommend annual bloodwork starting at age 7 to catch early kidney disease, hyperthyroidism, and diabetes — three of the most common silent diseases in older cats. Catching them early often means a longer, more comfortable life.

Bring your cat in a secure, well-ventilated carrier. Spraying the inside with a calming feline pheromone 15 minutes before travel makes the trip far easier on both of you.
