What Counts as Urgent (and What Doesn’t)
Not every worrying symptom means a trip to the emergency room, but it’s not always obvious which is which. Call us for things like:
- Vomiting or diarrhea that’s lasted more than a day, or shows up with blood
- Limping, sudden stiffness, or reluctance to jump/climb stairs
- Not eating or drinking for more than 24 hours
- Swelling, hot spots, or a wound that needs a look
- Eye irritation, squinting, or discharge
- A minor injury from a fall, scrape with another animal, or getting into something they shouldn’t have
If your pet is having trouble breathing, can’t stand, is having a seizure, or has been hit by a car, that’s an emergency — please go straight to a 24-hour animal hospital rather than waiting for us to open. If you’re not sure which one applies, call and we’ll help you figure out what to do next, even if that means pointing you somewhere else.
Why Call Us First
Being an established, veterinarian-owned clinic means Dr. Rogoff already knows a lot of the pets who come through for urgent visits — which cuts down on the guesswork that comes with seeing a brand-new vet under stressful circumstances. We keep same-day appointments open specifically so a same-week or same-day visit doesn’t turn into a week-long wait, and we’re open Saturdays for anyone whose pet decides to have a bad weekend.
