Most pet emergencies are obvious — trauma, collapse, severe bleeding. But some warning signs are more subtle and easy to miss. Knowing what to watch for can save your pet’s life.
Call us immediately if your pet shows: difficulty breathing or open-mouth breathing in cats, repeated vomiting or diarrhea over a few hours, suspected toxin exposure (chocolate, grapes, xylitol, lilies, human medications), inability to urinate, sudden weakness or collapse, seizures, uncontrolled bleeding, a distended abdomen, or trauma of any kind.
While you head our way, keep your pet calm and warm. Don’t induce vomiting unless our team specifically tells you to. If you suspect toxin exposure, bring the packaging or a photo of what was ingested.
For after-hours emergencies, call the closest 24/7 veterinary ER and call our clinic first thing the following morning so we can follow up and coordinate continued care.
